With joy and gratitude I get to announce that my book, With Those Who Weep: A Theology of Tears is now available.

You can buy the paperback version here for $9.99, or the eBook for $7.99.

There is certainly a cocktail of emotions I am feeling surrounding this, among them being relief, gratitude, and trepidation. Unsurprisingly, there is no shortage of tears. I am honored that I was able to see this project through, and I am privileged that you have decided to come along on this journey with me.

At best, society is indifferent to crying. At worst, it chastises and punishes it.But what if there is a third way—an option that beckons us into Christlikeness and offers us consolation from God our Father? My prayer is that this book would help you discover that third way, extending an invitation to explore how our tears form us and our sorrows catechize us. God allows us to exercise hope in our weeping, which gives purpose to our tears. As Christians we are allowed, and maybe even obliged, to embrace our tears as a gift.

In praise of With Those Who Weep:

The church should be the safest place for us to cry; often it is the most intimidating. S.A. Morrison faithfully sounds a call to recover lament and sorrow as part of our common life. Her beautiful words put on flesh, tenderly reminding us that Jesus understands our weaknesses and is present in our tears.

—Aarik Danielsen, Fathom Magazine columnist

Whether you trend toward sappiness or stoicism, few of us are comfortable with crying. Fewer of us have considered tears as a means of God’s grace and presence. Sarah unearths the Bible’s surprisingly robust presentation of tears. Her book can stir up in us a more honest and holistic emotional life and deeper appreciation of God’s redemptive purposes in our tears.

—Steve Barbee, Pastor at The Church at West Creek

"A wise friend once told me, 'Tears are a sign of honor.' Sarah's work in this book embodies this sacredness of sorrow, bringing an honor that is rooted in the Bible and relevant to contemporary grief. A true and beautiful introduction to the holiness of our tears."

—Paul J. Pastor, author of The Face of the Deep, The Listening Day, and Bower Lodge (Poems)
